Professional hedge trimming and maintenance in Dunedin. We keep your hedges looking sharp and healthy year-round.
Most formal hedges benefit from one or two trims a year. Fast-growing species (such as macrocarpa or leyland cypress) usually need two cuts — one in late spring and one in late summer. Slower species (like buxus or yew) may only need one shape-up per year. Trimming little and often keeps hedges denser and easier to manage than letting them get overgrown.
Late spring after the first growth flush and again in late summer is the standard schedule for most hedges. Avoid heavy cutting during very hot, dry periods or in mid-winter frost. We also try to avoid cutting in nesting season (roughly September to December) where birds may be present.
Yes — full clean-up and removal of trimmings is included by default. If you would prefer to keep the trimmings (for mulch or compost), let us know when we quote and we can stack them on site instead.
